Two‐Step Method for Determining the Solar Quiet Current Focus and the Validation Using Observing Procedure Experiment

Abstract It was known that the Solar quiet (Sq) current is important for ionosphere dynamics, which can cause variations in geomagnetic fields recorded on ground. Using a north‐south chain of observatories, latitude Sq focus (center solar current) be determined local area. However, single observatories does not provide longitudinal information focus. In this study, we proposed an improved method using magnetic observatory network Asia to determine automatically. After taking variability and asymmetry into consideration, determines with latitudinal fitting processes. To verify effectiveness method, designed observing procedure experiment (OPE) simulate field observation determination under different conditions. The results show has capability tracking trajectory Additionally, OPE efficiently validate performance method.
